Topical Authority With AI: Build Coverage, Not Page Count
Use AI to map meaningful topic relationships, consolidate overlapping queries and design internal links without creating uncontrolled content sprawl.
Map the search ecosystem
Start with problems, questions, entities, terminology, comparisons, use cases, objections and adjacent concepts around the central subject.
Cluster by intent and overlap
Lexical similarity is not enough. Keywords belong together when the same page can satisfy the same user outcome and SERPs overlap materially.
Create the fewest pages necessary
A large keyword list can collapse into a much smaller set of useful destinations. Authority comes from coherent coverage and relationships, not an arbitrary URL count.
Expand one degree away
After the core is covered, add adjacent topics that naturally belong to the same audience or strengthen understanding of the central subject.
Design link highways
Connect informational pages to problem/solution pages, commercial comparisons and product-aware destinations where useful. Internal links should communicate relationships, not simply distribute PageRank.
Let search data constrain expansion
Use Search Console impressions and positions 5–30 to decide whether to deepen an existing page or create a distinct new destination.
